Q Fever - Biological Weapon at Teys Bros Beenleigh

Q Fever; you may not be familiar with the disease, which causes high fevers and flu-like symptoms in humans. But considering that Q fever is known as possibly the most infectious bacterial pathogen in the world and was once tested on humans by the U.S. Army as a possible bio-weapon, perhaps you ought to be, especially if you live within 18 kilometers of Teys Bros Beenleigh Abattoir.

Teys Bros Beenleigh have NOT kept up to date with saftey practices when it comes to their cattle yards, the origin or all potential cases of Q fever.

Tested in the United States as a biological weapon from the mid 1950's to the mid 1970's, it is considered real and dangerous. Most noteworthy is that the infection rate upon contact is, depending on sources, the highest of any bacteria on earth and Teys Bros Beenleigh have it in their cattle yards and refuse to modernise their cattle yard operation to make it safer for the unsuspecting general public.

Teys Bros Beenleigh have commissioned several reports which warn them of the danger, but continue to do nothing.

In 2006, a report conducted by a Occupational Health & Safety Consultant for a Q Fever court case reported that Teys Bros Beenleigh have not taken seriously their obligation to the public, the consultant was making a comment regarding their cattle Yards. The consultant observes their proper procedures of safety for Staff and workers within the business but  comment regarding the lack of care and responsibility Teys Bros Beenleigh have taken in regard to public safety for the surrounding areas.

Q Fever is spread as a air borne disease and Teys Bros Beenleigh have built a 10 meter earth and vegetation buffer next to the cattle yards expecting this mound will stop the wind blowing, its like a joke, if it wasn't so serious.

In 2006, Teys settled out of court for a undisclosed sum of money, with a person claiming to have contracted Q-Fever, 500m to 1 kilometer away from the factory and the factory cattle yards.

Court Documents obtained, show Teys negotiated a settlement for this undisclosed sum subject to a Confidentiality Contract. It is important that they keep cases of Q-Fever out of the public arean. One of the Expert Medical Reports from the 2006 court proceedings claimed that Q-Fever is contagious up to at least 18 kilometers away, you can read that report here. Wow, the distance of 18 kilometers is repeated time and time again in international reports like this one from the UK.

18 kilometers, that would endanger over 100 thousand Men Women and Children from as far away as Redland Ray, Capalaba, Coopers Plains, Sunnybank Hills,  Forrest Lake, Jimboomba, Tamborine, South Maclean, Cedar Creek and Jacobs Well.

18 kilometers is to much, way, way too much

Don't Live near Teys Beenleigh

Don't buy in the areas of Divine's  Residential Estate "Alberi Park" or  Stockland's  Residential Estate "Vale" or Lend Lease's Residential Estate of  "Woodlands" now begins to cause concern. All the hard working people who have bought Land and Houses in these new Residential Estates are in a clear and present HIGH RISK of Danger. To the North of Teys, we have Edens landing. a well and established suburb, who may have well felt the effects of Teys but were uninformed and unaware of the dangers. To the East of Teys lies the Beenleigh, full of industrial, businesses and homes, all sitting in the firing line, unsuspecting that they are all in High Risk of some hidden disease. In these areas,  Q-Fever symptoms could for many years, have been mistaken for symptoms of general sickness like fever, chills, headaches and other common ailments that may be mistaken for the Flu.

Below is a map measuring 1 kilometer from Teys Cattle yards.  The map below shows 100% of Devine's Alberi Park is in High Risk, 80% of Stockland's Vale is in High Risk and 70% of Edens Landing is in High Risk. If you live within the RED Line you are at High Risk

Below is a Map Measuring 2 kilometers from Teys cattle Yards At 2 kilometers, All of Divine's "Alberi Park", All of Stockland's "Vale" and all of Lend lease's "Woodland" residential estates are in HIGH RISK areas of contracting Q-Fever.

Below is a Map measuring 5 Kilometers This 5 kilometer radius figure is the latest report by experts claiming unacceptable risk of contracting Q-Fever. At 5 kilometers, the circle of danger extends to the Hyperdome to the North, Waterford West to the West, Yatala to the East and Belivah to the South. Accordingly, if you live inside the outer Red Line you are at Risk.

In my opinion, it is unacceptable that these large companies fully aware of the danger continue to develop in High Risk Areas and it is unacceptable that the Logan City Council fully aware of the consequences continue to approve these developments in High Risk Areas and it is unacceptable that Teys put profit before safety and refuse to modernise their cattle yards.

Cattle yards of Danger

 Early 1980s Teys Cattle Yards

Teys Bros Beenleigh cattle yards are old; built back in the early 1980's, this is where the cattle are held before slaughter.

2012 Teys Cattle YardsIt is here at these cattle yards that is the main point of Q-Fever danger originates from, in the cattle yards, all the dust odour and contaminates of infectious disease originate from here, it is basically the source of any and all danger to the unsuspecting public;  holding the cattle in the holding yards as the cattle feed and do their business.

All expert reports highlight and center around the cattle in the cattle yards and as stated they, Teys Bros Beenleigh, are so far behind the times because of these cattle yards, they knowingly put everyone living up to 18 kilometers away in jeopardy.
These Cattle yards have not been touched for over 30 years, they remain basically the way they were when first built back in the early 80s.

Thirty Years and NO modernisation, Thirty Years NO leading edge technology, just the same 30 year old Cattle Holding Yards stuck in the 80s with no care, no responsibility, just a clear neglect and disregard for the health and well being of the general public. Every other abattoir of Teys class in South East Queensland have kept up with safe practices and enclosed their cattle yards in massive sheds with air filtration systems with concrete flooring to eradicate Dust, Odour and Contaminates of Infectious Diseases to the surrounding public, except for Teys. And even though these cattle yards are behind 10 meters of a dirt mound, the wind can not be contained by some dirt and vegetation.

In 2006, Teys settled out of court with a man claiming to have contracted Q-Fever from the Teys Bros Beenleigh operation. Court documents reveal that he worked on a building site some 500 meters to 1 kilometer away from the factor. This is the same distance as Devine's Alberi Park; 1 kilometer covers the entire Alberi Park residential estate and puts every man, women, child and pet at HIGH RISK of contracting Q-Fever.

In2006, a Expert Report completed by a Occupational Health & Safety Consultant, was prepared for a Teys court case defending a Q fever claim by the building laborer working on a building site some 500 to 1 kilometer away.

In this report, the expert witness claims that although Teys do everything to protect their workers, they do nothing for the surrounding public, the report goes on to imply no duty of care is extended to the surrounding public and that Teys did not have a effective process in place to protect the local community from the processing plant to the cattle yards. For over two years, residents have been taking daily photos and it seems like every day that Teys allow the cattle to graze dirrectly across from houses and people completely ignoring the danger of spreading diseases. Below are some photos taken from peoples front yards, they show how close the cattle are to the street and houses.
